Rigging Projects - Door Refurbishment

Rigging Projects are a provider of design, manufacture and supply of masts and rigging equipment for luxury yachts and as such have a very keen eye for detail and impeccable quality levels of finish.

The client wished to enhance their reception and engineering workshop doors by creating some bespoke technical imagery that highlighted their high end products as well as refurbishing the dated and plain items, negating the need for costly replacement. Being and existing and valued customers of Extreme Signs Ltd it was an easy decision for the team to choose us to provide a solution.

Our lead surveyor Tom Thorne met with the client and once the brief was understood it was agreed as to the levels of preparation required from the clients perspective and there was a clear understanding as to what was expected from Extreme. Perfection and longevity

Tom bought the project back to base and the team were thoroughly briefed as to what the expectations are . Tom Stephens our manufacturing Supremo worked with the artwork provided by Rigging Projects In-house designer. Careful consideration was given to the full layout of the areas and substrate and manufacturing production files were produced to ensure maximisation of the clients vision.

Due to the high footfall, a tried and tested high tack material was chosen of Arlon DPF8200 high tack with Arlon 3450 matte over-laminate

Vulnerable elements were taken into account and where possible, finished edges and door return overlaps were considered to make the most robust and visually pleasing solution

Working with the client to ensure existing on site resources were maximised and the doors were prepared by sanding any loose and stepped areas, all door furniture removed and cosmetic painting around internal frame returns to ensure compatibility with the desired finish result.

For a full belt and braces approach, edges of the door perimeter and areas around handles and through glass viewing windows were given the extra treatment of 3M Type 94 adhesion promoter by Extreme Signs Ltd to ensure any slight risk of lifting edges had been mitigated as for a practicable

Extreme Signs Ltd arrived at the predetermined time that minimised disruption as far as possible due the high traffic experienced in the work areas, creating alternative walk through areas, whilst ensuring all safe passage for access and egress were maintained at all times

Upon completion of the adhesion promoting process, the first application commenced to the reception area doors. Positioning was critical due the high initial grab of the Arlon material. Thankfully the many years of application experience the Extreme Signs Ltd team possess, made for straightforward execution of best practice to ensure quality was kept high and risk of wastage kept very low ( almost nil)

Border areas between frames and imagery worked incredible well and further enhanced the original artwork.

Once reception was complete attention was turned to the workshop areas. These consisted of double door where a continuation image spanned across both door leaves, meaning vertical and horizontal axis need to match to ensure there was no disparity in the image. Once again due to the meticulous nature of Joe and Lucasz this was completed to the expected levels and a stunning visual image was created

Having completed all of the application is was vital to ensure the images were protected from the day to day operations of a busy design and engineering facility, so acrylic panels were provided to ensure the final finish of the vision were protected for many years to come

Sam our client contact was very pleased with the seamless delivery of the project and together with Designer Charlottes watchfully eye over the adherence to the brief was given the golden seal of approval Always the toughest crowd to please.

This was not our first successful project carried out with the guys at Rigging Project and I’m sure there will be many more to come
